My Passion for Natural Healing: From My Polish Roots to Motherhood

I was born in Poland and raised in the United States, yet the traditions of my Polish heritage have always stayed with me, especially when it comes to how my family approaches health. In our home, natural remedies weren’t considered an “alternative”, they were the foundation of everyday wellness. Hospitals were for emergencies, not everyday colds or fevers. My family relied on time-tested herbal treatments and home cures passed down through generations. These simple, effective natural health solutions remain central to how I care for myself and my family today.

My mother, a master of herbal remedies, always knew how to soothe ailments naturally. Whether brewing chamomile tea for digestive relief, placing onions in socks to combat colds, or using cabbage leaves to ease swelling. As a little girl, I remember the comfort of curling up with a warm cup of herbal tea made just for me, feeling safe and nurtured by her healing touch. I knew healing was something she did with love, not just ingredients. It was gentle, intentional, and grounded in love. She didn’t need a medicine cabinet filled with pills; Her remedies came from the pantry, the garden, and the spice rack.

Growing up with a Polish Mama, who embraced holistic health and herbal remedies, deeply influenced my path and ignited my journey towards the world of natural healing. While I wasn’t immune to illness, doctor visits were rare because of her belief in the body’s innate ability to heal with natural support. This foundation inspired my journey into herbalism and natural health, empowering me now to share trusted herbal remedies, natural wellness routines, and holistic self-care tips for modern moms seeking gentle, effective ways to support their family’s health.

The Turning Point: A Health Wake-Up Call

Although I had a strong foundation in natural health, I didn’t fully embrace it as a passion until years later, when I had no choice but to heal myself. The journey started with something seemingly minor: a filling in my tooth came loose. At the time, I didn’t think much of it. But the small hole became a breeding ground for bacteria. I didn’t realize how serious it had become until my body began reacting in ways I couldn’t ignore.

I developed severe digestive issues; bloating, constant discomfort, and eventually GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) that disrupted my daily life. I felt like I was unraveling from the inside out, and no quick fix seemed to help. It was a frustrating and isolating experience. Deep down, I knew this wasn’t just a passing issue or something caused by stress. My body was trying to tell me something, and I needed to figure out what it was.

That’s when I turned inward. I began reading, researching, and slowly rebuilding my body with the knowledge I’d tucked away from childhood, and so much more I had yet to learn. I started eliminating processed foods and gluten, cutting out inflammatory ingredients, and focusing on gut-healing foods. I learned about the gut-brain connection, and how your digestive system is truly at the core of your health. I incorporated bone broth, fermented foods, apple cider vinegar, slippery elm tea, and probiotics. Slowly, painfully, and steadily, I started to feel better.

It wasn’t just about healing my gut, it was about reclaiming my health and learning how to listen to my body again. That journey taught me that healing isn’t just physical, It’s emotional. It’s spiritual. It’s about empowerment!

Healing for Two: Preparing for Pregnancy Naturally

As I regained my strength, I had another motivation that pulled me deeper into the world of natural wellness: I wanted to become a mother. My husband and I tried for over a year to get pregnant. During that time, I became laser-focused on nourishing my body for fertility. Not just to conceive, but to create the healthiest environment possible for a baby.

I cleaned up my diet even further; organic foods, home-cooked meals, filtered water, and lots of herbal teas, like raspberry leaf tea, designed to support female health. I dove into learning about the importance of balancing hormones naturally. I reduced caffeine, swapped out plastic containers for glass, and eliminated any products with synthetic fragrances, parabens, or endocrine disruptors.

My home became a laboratory of love and natural living. From the toothpaste I used to the pillow I slept on, I paid attention to every detail. It might sound excessive to some, but when you realize how many toxins we are exposed to daily, it no longer feels like paranoia, it feels like protection. And when I finally did get pregnant, I carried that same mindset with me into every day of that journey.

A Natural Pregnancy and a Conscious Home

Pregnancy brought with it a new layer of responsibility. It wasn’t just about my body anymore, it was about my baby’s future. Every choice I made now had double the impact. I was growing a life, and I wanted to do it with the greatest care and intention possible.

I continued to eat clean and avoid processed foods, but I also became highly aware of the toxins that lurk in the things we don’t eat; shampoo, deodorant, laundry detergent, makeup, even air fresheners. I transitioned to all-natural, non-toxic alternatives. I found small businesses and clean beauty brands that aligned with my values. I made my own cleaning sprays with vinegar and essential oils. I even switched out conventional pots and pans for ceramic, stainless steel, or cast iron, and tossed plastic spatulas in favor of wood or silicone.

I wasn’t aiming for perfection, I was aiming for consciousness. The more I learned, the more I realized how disconnected we’ve become from what’s safe, clean, and natural. I wasn’t doing all of this out of fear, but out of love, for myself, my baby, and the environment she would grow up in.

Motherhood: A Wake-Up Call About Toxins

Becoming a mother changed me to the core and reshaped the lens through which I saw everything. I had no idea just how many toxic chemicals existed in baby products until I began shopping for them. Baby lotions with synthetic perfumes, plastic toys made with questionable dyes, cribs painted with VOC(volatile organic compounds) laced finishes, and even baby food with heavy metals or preservatives.

I was horrified, and motivated.

I began making all of my baby’s food from scratch, using only organic ingredients. I mashed steamed carrots, pureed sweet potatoes, and blended soaked oats with banana. It wasn’t always easy or convenient, but it gave me peace of mind. I knew what was going into her body because I was preparing it with my own two hands.

I also chose wooden toys, organic cotton clothes, and toxin-free diapers and wipes. I researched everything. I read labels like a hawk. Yes, I was the mom who turned over every bottle in the store. But I did it because I couldn’t unlearn what I now knew, and because my baby’s health is my highest priority.

A Lifestyle, Not a Phase

What started as a family tradition in Poland became a personal healing journey, then a commitment to conscious motherhood, and now, a full-blown lifestyle. Natural healing is not just a passion anymore, it’s the lens through which I see the world. It’s how I make decisions, big and small.

I don’t believe in scaring people into change, and I know that everyone is on their own path, but I do believe in sharing what I’ve learned. When you begin to understand the connection between what you eat, what you put on your skin, what you breathe in, and how you feel, you unlock a kind of power that no prescription bottle can offer.

This journey has taught me that natural healing is about more than herbs and supplements. It’s about awareness, intentionality, and returning to what’s real. It’s about knowing that the body wants to heal, and when we support it, beautiful things happen Not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually too.

Final Thoughts

Looking back, it’s clear that this path has been unfolding all my life. From my Polish Mama’s kitchen where my mom cooked from scratch, to my own kitchen where I now prepare food for my little one. Every challenge I faced, every late night spent researching, and every hard-earned lesson has brought me here.

I didn’t set out to become an advocate for natural healing, but in healing myself and caring for my family, I discovered a deep and unshakable calling. I now feel more connected, more vibrant, and more empowered than ever before. I want that for others, too.

Whether you’re dealing with your own health struggles, preparing for motherhood, or just curious about how to live more naturally, know this: it doesn’t have to happen all at once. You can start small. One tea, one label, one switch at a time. Healing is possible. And it’s worth it!
